# Is it clearly labelled as an ad?

> Paste a caption or video description and check its ad label: there, upfront, and on screen long enough by ASCI's rules. Get the label in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi or Odia.

## Ad label checker, free

A paid video, a free product, or any other connection with the brand needs a label viewers can't miss. ASCI allows the label in English or in the language of the ad. Paste your caption or description, pick the format and the language, and see what to fix, with a ready label to copy. It checks the label only: not the claims in the video, and not everything else ASCI's code asks.

Nothing you type is sent to Thommidhi or anyone else: the tools work in your browser, with no sign-up. The invoice maker and rate card remember your own details on this device so you don't retype them, and you can forget them with one tap.

## How it works

The label must be upfront: at the start, not after "more" and not lost in a block of hashtags.

For videos, put it on screen as well as in the description, for at least 3 seconds up to 15-second videos, a third of the video up to 2 minutes, and from 2 minutes the whole part where the brand is mentioned (ASCI). For stories, on the picture itself. For live streams, announce it at the start and the end (ASCI) and keep it showing throughout (Department of Consumer Affairs).

Money and health creators who give advice need to show their credentials upfront (ASCI, 2023).

Labels it recognises: Ad, Advertisement, Sponsored, Collaboration, Partnership, Affiliate, Employee, Free gift, the platforms' Paid partnership and Includes paid promotion tags, Paid promotion and Paid, with or without #, and "Ad" in ten Indian languages.

Not sure whether you need a label at all? ASCI's own disclosure tool answers that; this one helps you write and place it.

## Questions

What ad labels does ASCI accept? ASCI's influencer guidelines list Advertisement, Ad, Sponsored, Collaboration, Partnership, Affiliate, Employee and Free gift, and accept the platforms' own tags (Instagram's Paid partnership, YouTube's Includes paid promotion), placed upfront where an average viewer won't miss them. The label can be in English or in the language of the ad.

Can I write the ad label in Telugu, Tamil or Hindi? Yes: ASCI allows it in the language of the ad. We suggest pairing it with English, for example "Ad · ప్రకటన", so every viewer and every reviewer reads it.

Is #ad at the end of my hashtags enough? No. A label lost in a block of hashtags or hidden after "more" doesn't count as clear. Put it at the start.
