Telugu tech creators for your brand: what their videos look like, the moments that matter, how to brief them and the rules that apply.
Telugu tech creators, in short
Telugu tech videos usually explain in Tenglish, with specs, model names and app menus in English. Unboxings, phone and laptop reviews, buying guides and 'tips you didn't know' Shorts are the common shapes, and creators often test battery, camera and network in their own town and say so.
Tech viewers watch to decide what to buy, so the most useful brand video is an honest review in the creator's usual shape, with the creator's own verdict.
What the videos look like
Common kinds of tech video: unboxings, phone and laptop reviews, comparisons, buying guides, app walk-throughs, tips and tricks shorts.
Moments that matter for Telugu tech campaigns
Sankranti (mid-January): new purchases before the holiday, including phones and TVs for the family home.
Festive online sales (September and October): the biggest buying window for phones, TVs and laptops; buying guides go up in the weeks before.
How to brief a Telugu tech creator
Say whether your service works the same in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and in small towns as well as Hyderabad; Telugu creators will test it.
If your product has Telugu language options, ask the creator to show them.
Send the unit early enough for a real-use review rather than a first-impressions video.
Send a retail unit, not a pre-production sample, and give the creator enough days to really use it.
List the specs that must be right and the claims you need said; leave the verdict to the creator.
Say in writing whether rival products may appear, and agree the embargo date and time.
How to measure it
Give each creator their own link or code, and count clicks, installs or orders from it. Read the comments too: questions about price, service and where to buy tell you what the next brief should answer.
The rules that apply
Label it as an ad. A paid video, a free product or any other connection with the brand needs a label viewers can't miss, such as Ad, Sponsored, Collaboration, Partnership or Free gift. ASCI allows the label in English or in the language of the ad, so in a Telugu video a Telugu label is often the clearest. (Source: ASCI influencer guidelines, 2021.)
A free device is a connection too. If the creator keeps the product, ASCI counts that as a material connection, and the video needs a label such as Free gift, even when no fee was paid. (Source: ASCI influencer guidelines, 2021.)
